"Each Day is a Gift and Not a Given Right"

If i created a bumper sticker to represent my philosophy of life, it would read "each day is a gift and not a given right."

I have lost many people in my life and have learned to cherish what's important to me and not take advantage of every blessing I have. Three years ago, my good friend died in a car accident. She was always so full of excitement and really lived her life to the fullest. Losing her taught me to do the same. Even though things can get really rough, i thank God just to be alive. I've realized that I have a purpose in life, and as long as I am here I will embrace it. I no longer take for granted the people who are in my life. I tell my friends and family I love them all the time and I try to be there for everyone when they need me. There's always light at the end of the tunnel and I enjoy the way I live my life with no regrets.

  1. I can understand. In the moment of an argument, sometimes you can say many things you don't mean. Then a bit later, I think about what I said and how much that other person has done for me and how they have always been there. I realize then that I was wrong and I go back and tell them how much I appreciate them.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I really understand what you are saying. My boyfriend was almost killed in a car accident acouple months ago. Because of his accident I learned so much and I look at life in a totally different way. Now I appreciate everything that happens and dont take anything for granted just like you were saying. I dont even know what I would have done if he really did lose his life in that accident.

  3. I'm sorry for your loss. I too lost a loved one recently, and know what you mean. We can't take for granted anything in life. We can however take each day a day at a time. All of us need to realize that when we leave this earth what legacy will we leave behind? And did we live life to the fullest, or having any regrets? I like your bumper sticker. Reminds me why we are here on earth.

  4. Your essay really brings the phrase back into perspective. Many people do not realize how much they will miss something until it's gone. Your bumper sticker serves as a great reminder for how to be fun-loving and make the most out of every situation.
